For a relaxing day with the kids, you might want to pack a picnic and head off to the park located next to the Chinese Temple. The park has a large grassy area with swings, climbing bars, and slide.

A few miles away just off Hwy 70 near Oroville, you will find the quaint little "once was" town of Cherokee. As you wind along the narrow road, you will come to what is left of the old historic town. There is a museum which the owner will open for groups upon request. You can't help but notice the remains of the old Wells Fargo and assay office which burned in 1947. Next to the museum is an old caboose, saloon, miners cabin, and Post Office. In the spring time the flowers are beautiful throughout Cherokee and along Table Top Mountain.
